Abigail Akyere #135

Gulu (Uganda)
Abigail is from Adjumako in the Central region of Ghana. Abigail’s father had abandoned his wife and children, so there was no way for Abigail’s mother to provide for her two children on her own. So Abigail’s mother came to the railway station and asked an old friend to look after Abigail while she went to the market. Sadly, Abigail’s mother never returned.
From then on, Abigail lived on the street with her Aunt (Auntie Margret). Abigail helped Margret sell iced water at the railway station to make a meager living. Abigail was eventually brought to Haven of Hope Home in November of 2002 where she would live and be properly cared for by the ECM staff. She has other siblings who do not live at Haven of Hope. She attended Haven of Hope Academy where she completed her basic education, and then continued on to Nsawam High School where she completed her secondary education with good grades. She was accepted into All Nation University where she is currently finishing her second year studying business administration.
She desires to become a human resource manager in the future. Abigail is a believer in Jesus and is now 22 years old (as of spring 2020). Abigail really has no family members to help her complete her education, other than her sponsors through ECM. She would most likely end up struggling on the street again if there were no sponsors able to help her through ECM. She currently has two sponsors but needs one or two more to help her finish her time at university strong! Can you be the next one to encourage her and help launch her into a successful life on her own?
