Prayer Requests

PRAISE!! ECM’s co-founder John Rouster, had to have a pacemaker & defibrillator put in the day before his heart valve replacement, but John is doing well & self quarantining for a couple months.

The Ghana trip that our Executive Director, Mark Luckey, and our Sponsorship Coordinator, Alexandria Woodward had planned to make has been postponed due to airports shutting down and needing pre and post flight covid tests, and all the complications related to travel. Pray God will take care of this virus and that needed travel to Africa and back will be able to take place.

Caroline, a young girl in eastern Uganda who suffers from a large facial tumor is still in need of assistance. Over a year ago, we were making plans for her to have surgery in Kenya to remove the tumor, but then COVID hit and travel to Kenya became impossible. In recent weeks, the officials who need to sign the travel documents have had to close their offices because of COVID, and now things are complicated because of the impending Ugandan election. Please pray with us that Caroline would receive special permission to travel soon!

Pray for a Board of Directors meeting, Monday, December 14 at 6:00 pm. Pray there would be no conflicts that require re-scheduling. Pray for God’s wisdom as the Board discusses issues and moves ECM into 2021.

Pray for a pilot program set to begin in Spring 2021 for family sponsorships. Child sponsorship is an incredibly effective tool for improving the lives of vulnerable children. But it has limitations. Family sponsorship provides education, guidance, spiritual mentoring, training, medical help, and employment opportunities for entire families, not just one or two children. Pray that we would find sponsors to support this program. Pray for our staff in Uganda as they are already selecting families for the program. Pray as staff develop relationships with the parents & the children to best know what each family needs.

PRAISES! Jim Driscoll, our missionary in Ghana, made it to the U.S. to be re-united with his wife Carolyn, to continue his post surgery rehab, to rest & refresh, and to connect with supporters while home. Sharise Riether, our missionary in Congo, was cleared health wise to return to Congo and made it back safely. She will now focus on getting her missionary project, Beautiful Blessings, up and running.

Linda Moore, our missionary in Uganda, made it home after many months of waiting due to airport closures. Linda has some health issues she needs to take care of while home. Pray for her health and that she would be able to work things out regarding the costs of a surgery she will need.

As we roll the calendar on 2020 into 2021, we know many are not sorry to see this year go. But God is still Sovereign and we give Him praises for all the ways He stood with ECM in 2020. You, our faithful partners, were a part of that! Ministry was difficult but finances remained good and our staff were innovative in ways to continue to reach children and families. Pray with us that God expand our finances and ministries in 2021, so that more children and families can be reached with the wonderful, saving love of Jesus Christ.
